If happiness is anticipation with certainty, we were happy.

Toni Morrison

Is it a cautious or, on the contrary, particularly happy phrasing? In favor of the first assessment is the fact that anticipation may generate certainty, but the true redemption of happiness is not yet guaranteed. And thus it remains with the – albeit very confident – anticipation. The second possibility of interpretation promises doubled, so to speak complete happiness: anticipation as the most beautiful joy, as a proverb claims, paired with the certainty that the realization will also hold the feeling of happiness and will not be disappointed.
