Thinking is exciting and constantly confronts the thinker with questions and news. No chance to rest. Especially as calming down instills sleep, ignores questions and refuses to engage in questions.

But, one does not even need to get upset in order to think – relaxed thinking is much more productive because it allows associations. Leibniz’s critique of tranquillity refers to the phlegmatic, passive kind thereof.
