Justifiably, birds do not care about the debates and findings in ornithology. They just fly about, they tweet and they do many other things. The same applies to artists: if they complied with the demands, or simply the insights, of a particular aesthetic theory, then any form of rebellion in art would be over. Art would conform, would submit to authority. There are no guidelines for making art, but it makes a lot of sense to think about art and to put the respective theories up for discussion.
