If a lexicon can catch up with an author, he is no good.

Because this author could be all too easily fitted into the compartments of philology, the counterpart of police studies. There would be no specialty, no diversity, not even laudible disorder, and we would need no literature. But – many would certainly highly

prefer a lexicon rather than not being acknowledged as an author at all.
